Calling all aunts and uncles, grandmothers and grandfathers, sisters and brothers, cousins and friends, neighbors and mentors. By now you know you don’t have to be a mom or dad to take a girl or boy to work. When we say “Our Daughters And Sons” we mean more than our own children. The Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work Foundation encourages workplaces and individuals to ensure all our nation’s daughters and sons participate in the program by inviting children from housing authorities and shelters, nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends, and more, to join them for Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work.
Volunteer to coordinate the Day at your workplace. Investing one day can help shape the future for our nation’s daughters and sons. This is your workplace’s opportunity to show girls and boys how a full life balances work, family, and community and teach them that true success is measured by more than a title or a paycheck.
Through implementing the Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work program and utilizing the official program activities, you help shape a future where doing a good job is as important at home and in the community as it is in the workplace. It’s an investment that’s sure to pay dividends. Visit the Workplace Coordinator section of the Web site to learn how to implement the program.
Encourage your workplace coordinator to implement the official program activities or volunteer to facilitate one of the activities. The activities are designed to give voice and substance to girls’ and boys’ aspirations and visions for successfully integrating work and family. These activities help them explore what it means to be successful and happy at school, work, and home; enables them to recognize common stereotypes about women’s and men’s roles both on and off the job; provides them the opportunity to explore a variety of jobs and the steps needed to attain their future; connects schoolwork and working in the real world through art, social studies, science, language arts, and math subjects.
We also offer activity books for kids to take home and do with their parents or other adults in their lives. Take time out to work with girls and boys on one, two, or three of the activities contained in this book.
Support the program while providing participants with collector memorabilia and useful take-home gifts. There is a range of products to choose from including T-shirts, bags, and journals. Proceeds from merchandise sales are used to support the programmatic activities of the Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work.
