“It is a unique opportunity to change a child’s entire perspective and thereby, change their lives.” — WNBC Reporter and Daughters and Sons Day Participant Ida Siegal
Designed to be more than a career day, the Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work® program goes beyond the average practice of “shadowing” an adult. Exposing children to what a parent or mentor does during the work day is important, but showing them the value of their education, helping them discover the power and possibilities of work and family life, providing boys and girls a chance to share how they envision the future, and allowing them to begin steps toward their goals in a hands-on and interactive environment is key to their achieving success.
Working Better Together is the 2023 theme for Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work® Day, which will be held on Thursday, April 27th, 2023. Check out our 2023 Event tab often for more information as we prepare for the day.
2023 Workplace Event Toolkit and Guidebooks have been released. Click here for a link to the 2023 Toolkit (on Homepage/ Resources/ Planning Tips page). Click here for the Grades 6-12 Activity Book and here for the Grade 2-5 Activity Book (Homepage/ Resources/ Activity Center/ Activity Guides page). They are full of new activities to use in your company’s event and share with your young participants while they develop skills they can use in school and the work environment.
The Virtual component is coming together and you can register to participate by clicking here. This component extends the day to those parents and children who do not have access to the workplace as well as complement an employer’s on-site program. Please register to help us gain insight to the number of people who will be attending.
Participants are encouraged to post videos, photos, and stories about how they have been influenced in their professional roles, as well as post conversations with children on topics such as Education Planning, Self Discovery and Bullying Prevention.
By bringing children together, we all contribute to creating a more equitable world—at home, at school, and in the workplace. This year, we are celebrating the opportunities that kids will discover and those for parents, mentors, and the community to be involved in this unique educational experience.
